Pitesti Complex
Location: Pitesti, Arges, Romania Total Surface Area: 12000 sqm Project Status: Completed Date: 2008-2016 General designer and design for architecture, structure, installations, interiors, quality site supervision. Multifunctional and multifaceted, the ensemble juxtaposes residential and commercial space in an integrating urban concept. Designed on a land that imposes a main direction, the composition consists of a succession of volumes that recreate the image of a city street, through the commercial ground floor and the multiple access to the 5 residential floors. The facades are integrated into the urban landscape, becoming the interruption and chromaticity variation factor as well as evenness of volumes through multiple recesses and colors being used. Location: Bucharest, Romania Total Surface Area: 650 sqm Project Status: Completed Date: 2015 General designer and design for architecture, structure, installations, interiors, quality site supervision, urban planning Located in the center of Bucharest, adjacent to the main thoroughfares, the building appears as a materialization of urban living, including all the required amenities for a contemporary residential building. A commercial ground floor and 3 floors with 2 apartments per level, create the two-directional volume. The facades, created in a harmonious relationship between solid and void, receive metal accents by treating terraces and loggias with railings and rifles that filter the visibility of the intimate residential spaces. The architectural object, thus, becomes, by summing up its parts, an accomplished urban intervention that capitalizes on the human presence. House with a Liquidambar Bianu

Raluca Pacurar Builder: TTL Construct Photos: Mihai Covrig The building is placed on a very small 124sqm plot in a former blue collar, modest area of the city, is designed to accommodate a family with children. Very close to the Bucharest North Railway Station, this part of the city is an eclectic one, mixing everything from communist apartment buildings to average low income pre-WW2 houses. The house design consists of an intervention using an old structure and arrangement on the site of the old house, not classified as historical monument, proposing a discreet composition of modern finishes, and respecting the street elevation and the general concept characteristic to the neighbourhood shapes and volumes. The house building preserves the initial division of the space, its conformation, main volumes. The initial thick brick walls were added custom-made metallic frames, adjusted to the available space, as one can notice for example at the entrance doors, framed by metallic niches. The concept revolves around a close and open relationship between the inside and the outside of the building, both in its finishes and in its shapes – designed as layers covering the house interior and exterior volumes, in similar finishes. The upper floor has the light wooden structure exposed, as an imprint of the house shape, in the interior space and design. The house has various elements that make it eco-friendly, such as the ventilated façade, the floor heating, or the low-e windows. The ground floor features the kitchen, a technical room, and the living room, nicknamed “the greenhouse”, located on the other side of an internal court yard, and benefiting from a lot of sunlight brought by the generous glazing of the walls. The upper floor of the house has two bedrooms, each under one of the roof’s slopes. The existing spaces were allocated so that different autonomous family activities may take place at the same time, creating the least discomfort among the family members, and materials, structures took into consideration the necessary soundproofing inside and from the outside. The used materials – stone, wood, glass covering wide surfaces – were selected in such a manner to inspire warmth, safety, relaxation, and intimacy, while being easy to maintain in a space also used by children. The project received 2021 BigSEE Slovenia Award, 2021 Romanian Design Week Nomination, 2021 UAR BNA Nomination, 2022 Iasi Architecture Annual Award, Romania. 1 Mai Bvd Bucharest Hotel Complex
Location: 6th District, Bucharest, Romania Total Surface Area: 16500sqm Project Status: Proposal, Concept Date: 2009 General and design for architecture, structure, installation, permitting The project studied the possibility of locating a 4-star Hotel in a central location and without this functionality, in the 6th District of Bucharest. A study was carried out to assess the possibility of reconstruction and development of an existing commercial and public food complex between the blocks of flats located along 1 Mai Boulevard, capitalizing on the coefficients provided in GUP of Bucharest. The proposed construction has a reinforced concrete structure, exterior masonry enclosures, ventilated facades, and installations related to the program. From a functional point of view, the project presents 2 basement levels for parking, technical and civil defense shelter, ground floor and mezzanine public spaces with cafe, restaurant for the public, spa, reception, reception spaces, reception, business center. On 2-6 levels there are accommodation spaces for 220 rooms with double beds, singles, apartments, meeting rooms, and on the last level there is a closed circuit restaurant for hotel guests. Giurgiu Hotel
Location: Giurgiu, Giurgiu, Romania Total Surface Area: 2175 sqm Project Status: Proposal Data: 2008 Design proposed in Giurgiu downtown, the 35-rooms hotel adds a distinct urban character to its surroundings. The project proposes a volumetric composition that differentiates hosted functions. The ground floor volume accommodates the reception and the restaurant being, at the same time, the glass pedestal of the 4-storey accommodation volume. These two main volumes are highlighted by the vertical circulation that connects them through constructive elements that respond both to aesthetics of the architectural object and to the optimal functional use of the interior. The facades’ approach enhances the urban features of the project by combining clear shapes, contrasting chromatics and a harmonious ratio between solid and void. The exterior elements faithfully reflect the indoor features, highlighting both scale and functionality. Hotel rooms are presented with small-dimensional gaps in the tectonic facade of the accommodation volume, while common spaces, like hallways, the lobby and restaurant receive plenty of glazed spaces where the void prevails.
